Guided meditation: Chapter 7 rooted in consonance

Begin by getting comfortable. Sit or lie down in a way that allows your body to feel supported. Let your hands rest easily. If it feels safe, gently close your eyes.

Take a slow breath in through your nose…

And the longer breath out through your mouth.

Again

In through your nose

And out slowly through your mouth.

Allow the music beneath these words to meet you where you are. You don’t need to analyze it. Just let it arrive.

Bring your attention to the places where your body meets the surface beneath you.

Notice support.

Notice contact.

With each breath out, imagine releasing weight from your shoulders,

Your jaw,

Your belly.

You feel yourself relaxing with each slow, even breath.

Let the music become a steady ground, like earth beneath your feet.

The music is safe, steady. Flow into the warmth of each tone.

Now, imagine yourself standing at the edge of an Aspen Grove.

Tall white trunks rise around you, their leaves trembling softly in the breeze, each one appearing separate, distinct, alone.

Yet beneath the soil, unseen, they are all connected – one ancient root system, quietly shared strength, nourishment and memory.

The Grove is called Pando – a single living being that looks like many.

Let the image settle in your mind

As you listen to the music, notice how multiple tones blend together.

Each note has its own voice, yet together they create consonance – a sound that feels stable, safe, resolved.

Now bring gentle awareness to your inner world.

Any part of you that has felt:

  • Scattered
  • Disconnected
  • Overwhelmed
  • Out of tune

imagine those parts as individual Aspen trunks.

Separate above ground…

Yet connected below.

You are not broken. You are distributed – and still whole.

Let the music travel beneath the thought,

beneath the story,

beneath the memory.

Imagine sound waves moving through your body the way nutrients move through Pando’s roots – slowly, evenly, without force.

Notice:

  • your breath finding a natural rhythm
  • your heartbeat subtly aligning
  • your nervous system responding to harmony

This is consonance at the root level.

You don’t have to make it happen. Your body already knows how.

If a memory, emotion, or sensation arises, let it be there without judgment.

Like a moment of musical tension, it doesn’t need to disappear – only to be held within a larger harmony.

Imagine the music gently organizing what once felt chaotic,

bringing relationship to what felt isolated.

Each breath out is a small resolution.

Each moment of ease is a note finding its place.

Now imagine that you are not just standing in the grove –

you are part of it.

With each breath you grow roots deep into the earth, deep into the music, deep into consciousness.

Your roots intertwined with others:

ancestors, loved ones, teachers, healers, even people you have not yet met.

You are supported by a network far larger than your individual story.

Let this knowing soften you.

You were never meant to heal alone.

Consonance is relational.

As the music continues, sense a feeling of home inside your body.

Nourished.

Intertwined.

Held

Calm.

Stable.

Rested.

This is your home key –

the place your system naturally resolves to when it feels safe.

Spend a few breaths here.

Your roots are intertwined with the music, with the frequency of the earth.

Through your roots you are one with Pando, with the field of consciousness.

Through your roots you can access healing, nourishment, inner peace.

When you’re ready, begin to notice the space around you again.

Feel the surface beneath your body. Hear the music as sound in the room.

Take one final deep breath in…

And one out…

Carry this sense of rooted consciousness with you.

knowing you can return to it at any time.
