Guided Meditation Chapter 4 – Modulation – Explore Core Beliefs
Begin by finding a comfortable position.
You may be seated or lying down, letting your body be supported.
If it feels safe, allow your eyes to close.
Take a slow, deep breath in through your nose…
And gently release it through your mouth.
Again, breathing in…
And breathing out.
Allow your breath to find its own natural rhythm.
There is nothing you need to change or fix in this moment.
Bring your attention to your body.
Notice where you were making contact with the floor, the chair, or the bed beneath you.
Feel the weight of your body being held.
With each exhale, invite your shoulders to soften.
Let your jaw unclench.
Soften the muscles around your eyes.
You are here.
You are safe in this moment.
Now, gently bring your awareness inward.
Consider the idea of core beliefs – the quiet, often unseen assumptions that shape how we see ourselves and the world.
Imagine your life as a piece of music.
Your core beliefs are like the key signature – setting the tone before a single note is played.
A major key feels open, expansive, and hopeful.
A minor key can feel more limited, heavy, or cautious.
Neither is wrong.
They simply influence what feels possible.
Take a few breaths as you reflect:
What key has been playing in the background of my life?
No need to analyze.
Just notice what arises.
Our actions are often governed not by facts, but by beliefs.
Beliefs about what is safe.
Beliefs about what we deserve.
Beliefs about what is possible for us.
Gently ask yourself:
What fears or assumptions might be quietly limiting my personal or professional success?
There is no need to answer with words.
Let images, sensations, or emotions come and go naturally.
Now, bring compassion to this exploration.
Many of our core beliefs were formed in response to past experiences – especially moments when we needed to protect ourselves.
If you notice beliefs connected to unworthiness, fear, or self-doubt, acknowledge them gently.
These beliefs were not mistakes.
They may have once helped you survive, adapt, or stay safe.
Imagine your younger self – the child who learned these patterns.
Notice them with kindness.
What was once necessary to keep you safe may no longer be serving you now.
You can honor the wisdom of those early strategies, without letting them define your future.
As you continue breathing, consider this question:
Am I making assumptions today based on past negative experiences?
Again, no judgment.
Just curiosity.
Notice if your body responds – perhaps with a softening, a tightening, or a sense of recognition.
Now, gently shift your attention to the present moment.
Notice the support beneath you.
The rhythm of your breath.
The steadiness of this moment.
When we truly feel safe, something changes.
Core beliefs begin to shift.
From “I am unworthy”.
To “I am loved”.
From “I am not capable”. To “I am capable”.
You don’t have to force this change.
Simply allow the possibility.
Simply repeat yourself, if it feels right:
I am safe right now.
I am loved.
I am capable.
Let these words land gently, like notes in a new key.
As you continue to breathe, become curious about your belief patterns.
Not critical.
Not judgmental.
Curiosity opens a space.
Curiosity allows transformation.
You are not here to fix yourself.
You are here to understand yourself.
Imagine, for a moment, what would it feel like to live from a slightly more expansive key.
What might feel more possible?
What would change – even subtly – in how you move through your day?
Let this image remain soft and open-ended.
Now begin to bring your awareness back to your body.
The gentle rise and fall of your breath.
Take a deeper Inhale… And a slow, grounded exhale.
If your eyes are closed, gently open them.
Carry the sense of curiosity with you – a willingness to notice your beliefs with compassion and to allow new possibilities to emerge.
