When I was five years old, I almost failed kindergarten.
Not because I couldn’t learn, but because I couldn’t stop walking over to the piano.
While the other children practiced their letters and numbers, I was drawn to the upright instrument in the corner. I didn’t know what the keys meant, only that they held something important. Something I needed.
My teacher sent a note home to my parents.
It said, “If you don’t get her piano lessons, I’ll have no choice but to flunk her.”
So they found me a teacher. Within weeks, I was playing.
By six, I was composing. By fourteen, I was teaching.
Music didn’t just give me focus. It gave me safety.
It gave me a voice when I didn’t know how to speak.
Like many who carry childhood pain, I grew up in a home where emotions ran high and stability was fragile. I learned how to stay quiet. How to take up less space. How to read the room before I ever read a book.
But music let me feel.
I composed my first symphony, Shadow Dragon, out of memories I hadn’t yet processed. That dragon had been with me since I was small. He lived in my imagination, guarding me when no one else could. What began as survival became art.
Harmony, dissonance, tempo, silence.
Each one taught me how to live.
Music never asked me to fix myself.
It asked me to listen.
To stay present with feeling.
To trust that even tension has purpose.
Later, when I studied trauma, memory, and nervous system repair, I saw what music had been showing me all along. That presence is what heals. That pacing matters. That silence is not absence, but part of the composition.
That’s when Symphony of Self™ took shape.
Symphony of Self™ is where music meets memory.
It’s a way to reclaim the parts of yourself that got lost in the noise.
Through story, original piano pieces, meditation, and reflection, I help people reconnect with the voice inside them. The one they forgot was there.
This isn’t about fixing.
It’s about returning.
